About
Mr Democracy lives!
‘Mr Democracy’ and ‘Mr Science’ were terms used to describe the ideas of western democracy during the ‘May Forth’ movement, or ‘New Culture Era’, which took place from around 1919 to 1925. Mr Democracy has also kindly lent his name to this project.
‘Preamble’
My country, the UK, doesn’t have a written constitution, but we do enjoy a thriving trade with China, aswell as a notion of exporting democracy. Seeing as you can get anything and everything made in China, I want to get a constitution drawn up over there. Democracy is a late convert to globalisation, and I intend to bring the two closer together. Or perhaps it isn’t so late. In fact, the UK has had a strong notion of the import and export of ‘democracy’ for many years, one it continues to foster today. It is in this tradition that I wish to develop a constitution, or ‘basic law’ for the UK, in China, a country finding a new role for itself in the world.
I have been wanting to produce a project in China for a few years now, and last year I had this idea. At first I wanted to deal more directly with the changes happening in and around China itself. But I thought there was something in looking back at where I come from, and exploring it this way.

Hi – this is a great idea. I think there’s more likelihood of getting a constitution in Scotland, and I’ve tried to spread the idea ‘no independence without a constitution. Here’s what I think is the basis of what a constitution shoud be:
We, the people of Scotland—
we shall care for the Earth’s ecosystem
we shall care for our communities
we shall care for the gift of every individual
we shall care for freedom of conscience
we shall care for the sacred
we shall defend them,
we shall refrain from activities that damage them,
we shall do our utmost to maintain them, and if necessary
we shall restore them to a condition that sustains all forms of life
All forms of ownership carry the obligation to enact these principles
simple, huh? But Id trust a politician that was bound by those principles.
Id be glad to hear from you,
Yours,
Angus
